The Shelby County Sheriff's Office co-sponsored the event, which began with the solomn sounds of bagpipes (provided by Gordon Abernathy and his group) and special recognition of family survivors present for the event by Sheriff Mark Luttrell. All participants were given blue glow sticks to use for the walk around the lake as well as refreshments following the walk. The goal for 2009 is to double the number of people in attendance.
