Linda M. Gregory
President

Linda became a survivor in September 1971 when her brother, James H. Moon, an officer with the Jacksonville, Florida Sheriff's Office was shot and killed with his own weapon. He and his partner stopped a man to question him after receiving a disturbance call from a local college. During the interview the suspect attacked Officer Moon and gained control of his revolver. Officer Moon was shot him in the head and his partner was wounded but survived. Linda has been active in the COPS organization since 2003 and has attended the Siblings Retreat in Missouri.

Penny Woods Cross
Vice President

Penny is one of seven sibling survivors of Memphis Police Officer Anthony Woods, who was shot and killed after responding to a domestic violence call. Patrolman Woods arrived alone at the call at approximately 1920 hours. After Patrolman Woods entered the residence, the suspect shot a woman who was inside, wounding her in the arm and leg. A struggle ensued between Patrolman Woods and the suspect, and Patrolman Woods was shot twice in the head and twice in the shoulder. Patrolman Woods had been a member of the Memphis Police Department for seven years.

Annette Cotton
Treasurer

Annette is a Deputy Sheriff with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office. She was the shift partner of Shelby County Deputy, Sherry Goodman who was shot and killed after arresting a man on an outstanding warrant during a traffic stop. After securing the man in the back of her vehicle, her backup unit was diverted to another call. During the prisoner transport to the jail the suspect managed to produced a concealed handgun and shot Patrolwoman Goodman in the back of the head.

Mary Peete
Chapter Liaison Coordinator

Mary Peete became a survivor in March, 2000 when her husband Rupert H. Peete, Jr., of the Shelby County Sheriff's Department, was shot and killed after being ambushed by a man who had just murdered two firefighters. The firefighters had responded to a call of a house fire when they were also ambushed. As they approached the burning structure, the suspect came out of the house's garage and opened fire with a shotgun, killing both. Deputy Peete, who was responding to the scene of the shots-fired call, was shot while he was still in his cruiser. A fourth victim was found dead in the garage. The suspect was a firefighter who had just returned to duty after being on disability. Deputy Peete and his wife have two daughters.

Jessica Selby
Secretary

Jessica became a survivor in December, 2002 when her husband George M. Selby, an eight year veteran of the Shelby County Sheriff's Department, was shot and killed as he and other members of the Narcotics Unit attempted to serve a warrant. The deputies knocked on the door and identified themselves at which time shots were fired from inside the home. Deputy Selby was shot in the shoulder in an area not protected by his vest. Deputy Selby and his wife have two daughters.
